    Beijing New Culture Movement Memorial Hall, built on the former site of the Red Building in Peking University, is the base for patriotism education. People call it “Red Building”, for the main part of this four-storey building is built with red bricks.
    Relying on the Red Building, the memorial hall comprehensively introduces the contents and history of the New Culture Movement --- by displaying the New Culture Movement and thematic exhibitions on topics of Cai Yuanpei and Red Building in Peking University and The Mainstay of the New Culture Movement——Chen Duxiu; by restoring Li Dazhao’s former office where he worked as the director of the Peking University library, the reading-room in which Mao Zedong once worked, and the original large classrooms of Peking University; and by editing and showing videos like The May 4th Movement and The Former Residence of the Celebrities of the New Culture Movement.
    As the original place of the Chinese New Culture Movement, the Red Building has played countless significant roles in history: it is the birthplace of modern democracy and science and the foundation site for the publication of New Youth; it is here that the slogans such as “Struggle against the external great powers and punish the internal traitors” and “Abolish the unfair treaty ‘Twenty-One-Demands’” were first shouted out and soon heard all over China, and the “sparks of revolution” were kindled and spread throughout China.
