The Jinggang Mountain, located in the southwest of Jiangxi Province, is a well-known revolutionary base in China, featuring forested mountains, criss-cross ravines and multiple ranges of hills.
In October 1927, Mao Zedong, Zhu De, Chen Yi, Peng Dehuai and Teng Daiyuan and some other elder Chinese proletarian revolutionists led Chinese Red Army of Workers and Peasants to Jinggang mountain, established the first rural revolutionary base centering around Ning Gang county. Here they set up a revolutionary road with Chinese characteristics – encircling the city, armed seizure of power. Thus the Jinggang Mountain, which was rarely known to people at that time, had taken into Chinese glorious revolution history from then on. So it is regarded as the cradle of Chinese revolution and the cornerstone of the People’s Republic of China.
Although the fighting in Jinggang Mountains had lasted only two years and four months, from October 1927 to February 1930, it paved the way for the revolution in China. And the Jinggang Mountain spirits—firm faith and bavery for new ways-- is really a precious spiritual wealth for later generations, whose core is: firstly, having sturdy revolutionary ideal and faith; secondly, being practical and realistic in mind; thirdly, CPC directing the army; fourthly, keeping a close relationship between cadres and the masses; fifthly, sticking to the entrepreneurial spirits of hard-working.
Therefore, as one of China’s patriotism education demonstration bases, Jinggang Mountain has become the ideal platform for education of revolutionary tradition and patriotism.
