    Chinese National Museum is located in the east of Tian’anmen Square, opposite to the Great Hall of the People. It was founded based on the combination of the previous Chinese History Museum and Chinese Revolution Museum in February 2003.Belonging to the Ministry of Culture of PRC, the National Museum is a comprehensive national museum, paying equal attention to history and art and gathering together collection, exhibition, research, archeology, public education and cultural exchange.
     Chinese National Museum was reconstructed in 2007, and the new museum was opened officially on March 1, 2012. Covering about 200,000 square meters, the new museum has over 1,200,000 collections, 48 exhibition halls, with two basic exhibits—Ancient China and Road to Revive and also over 10 special subjects’ exhibits—Ancient Bronze, Ancient Buddha Statue, Ancient Jade, Ancient Porcelain, Ancient Classical Painting, Ancient Coins, as well as International Exchange exhibit and Temporary exhibit.
     As the world’s largest museum in terms of covered area, the National Museum has played an active and important role in many aspects, such as protecting national cultural heritages, showing Chinese long history, advocating Chinese civilization, promoting patriotism education, carrying out foreign cultural exchanges and reflecting Chinese cultural soft power.
