    Located in No.343 Zhongshan West Road in Shijiazhuang city of Hebei provice, the martyrs cemetery of North China Military Region is the cemetery for the martyrs who sacrificed in the battle in north China led by Chinese Communist Party. 
      The cemetery was firstly constructed in March 1950, completed in August 1954 and expanded in 1997. Covering 210,000 square meters, it possesses more than 10,000 revolutionary relics. Around the center - stele hall with 247 martyrs’ names inscribed on it - the buildings spread one by one along two east-west axes.
     The cemetery is a gathering place of loyal and brave martyrs’ souls in north China military region. Many heroes were buried here, including 219 cadres above regiment level and combat heroes sacrificed in the war of anti-Japanese and liberation, and also 623 martyrs after the founding of new China. Besides, Gao Keqian, leader of the first revolutionary civil war and Rong Guanxiu, “the mother of all soldiers” were also buried here. In addition, Bethune, a Canadian communist, who was highly appraised as internationalist soldier by Chairman Mao and the Indian doctor Dwarkanath Kotnis serving as a communist in China were also buried there.
     The cemetery is an important place not only to carry forward revolutionary tradition, but also to promote the education in communism and internationalism.
