    There is a famous bridge on the beautiful Yalu River — the Broken Bridge, the first one among the bridges on Yalu River.
     The Broken Bridge, the relic of Japanese colonization, is located on the bank of the Yalu River in Dandong City. It was constructed in 1909 with 944.2 meters long and 11 meters wide. During the war to resist US aggression and aid Korea, two bridges on Yalu River became the major traffic artery to support the front-line of North Korea. From November 1950 to February 1951, the first bridge was broken down through repeated bombing by US military aircrafts. Meanwhile, the other quadripuntal bridge is still remained to the present day. In June 1993, it was renovated into a tourist attraction, named as the Yalu River Broken Bridge. And it was inscribed by General Chi Haotian to maintain the historical features, intended to remember the cruelty of the war and pray for peace.
    The Broken Bridge is now a national Patriotism education base and a major bridge scenic spot of the national famous landscape in Yalu River.
