Located in Zhongshan West Road, Shijiazhuang City, the capital of Hebei Province, the Cemetery of Revolutionary Martyrs in North China Military Area has an area of 210,000 square meters, and its main buildings include Monument to Revolutionary Martyrs, Inscription Monument House, Martyr Memorial Hall, Revolutionary Cultural Relics Hall, Dr. Bethune Tomb, Bethune Memorial House, Dr. Dwarkanath Kotnis tomb, Memorial Hall of Indian Medical Team for China Aidl, Memorial Pavilion of Dong Zhentang and Zhao Bosheng, Martyrs Pavilion, and Movie Theater, etc.
Here rest in peace the coffins of 248 martyrs and ashes of more than 600 martyrs who died in Shanxi-Chaha’er-Hebei Region and military area command of north China during the Great Revolution, the period of Anti-Japanese War, the period of Chinas Liberation War and the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea. Among the martyrs there are Gao Keqian, the leader of Worker’s Movement; Ma Benzhai, the noted detachment commander of Hui people in the middle of Hebei Province and Liu Yunbiao, the founder of the Red Army Cavalry Regiments, etc.
The cemetery records the history of revolutionary struggle of the people in North China, and represents China of yesterday written by martyrs with their blood and life.
