    The Memorial Hall of General Headquarters Site of the Fourth Red Army in Tongjiang County, Bazhong City owns a history of over 20 years, and it was named as national patriotism education base by the Central Propaganda Department in 2001. The present exhibition in the memorial hall is the basic display of the "flames of Bashan" held in 2002 which adopted the history of the fourth Red Army establishing the Sichuan-Shanxi Soviet Area as its main line. Based on ample historical facts, the memorial hall mainly demonstrates the fourth Red Army’s achievements in being drafted west to Sichuan Province, establishing the Soviet Area, spreading the truth, awakening the public, and building new China, which fully reflects the contribution of local people in creating the Sichuan-Shanxi Soviet Area. Xu Xiangqian, the commander- in-chief of the fourth Red Army, together with Wang Shusheng, the deputy commander, Chen Changhao, the political commissar, etc., commanded the fourth Red Army to fight hundreds of wars here and achieved a glorious victory, founding the second largest revolutionary base in China. According to historical material, the Memorial Hall set up an exhibition room named “the Generals’ Demeanor” to memorize the 446 generals who had ever fought and lived there.Their huge photos and the biographical noes of their lives attract numerous visitors every year. Ten Tongjiang-born generals, elites of this old revolutionary base, witnessed the sacrifice made by people here to Chinese revolution.Out of the total 230,000 people in Tongjiang County at that time, over 40,000 heroes and heroines joined the Red Army. The People’s Republic of China will never forget their indelible contribution.
