Wang Xijiu village , a little-known red village, is located 2 Kilometers to the northeast of Qiliping town in Hong’an county and in front of Yangfu Road. It was the capital of Hubei, Henan and Anhui special region in the Great Revolution Period.
After Huangma Uprising, revolutionary struggle in Dabie Mountain was in the ascendant. The revolutionary base at the boundary of Er-Yu-Wan region was founded in the spring of 1930. According to instructions of the Party Central Committee, the Chinese special committee of Er-Yu-Wan region was formally formed and the Er-Yu-Wan soviet government was established, with Gan Yuanjing as the president of the government, Zeng Zhongsheng the secretary. Many senior generals of the Red Army, such as Guo Shushen, Xu Jisheng, Cai Shenxi, Xu Xiangqian came here to form the revolutionary military commission of Er-Yu-Wan and directly commanded armed struggle of Soviet Area. Hence Wang Xijiu village became the capital of Er-Yu-Wan until Zhang Guotao came and transformed the Er-Yu-Wan special committee into the sub-bureau of central Er-wan and the new provincial party committee of Er-Yu-Wan. Since then the capital was moved north to Xin county in Henan. The head office of the special committee was operating in Wang Xijiu village for nearly two years. Meanwhile the security bureau was stationed there. Qiliping, the center of revolutionary base in Dabie Mountain, was also the center of regional economy and culture. Important institutions of the government such as the soviet bank, economic community and Lenin primary school were all stationed there. And Wang Xijiu village, bordering the big mountain to the north and Qiliping to the south, was so convenient for the government to work there. What a small mysterious village!
Wang Xijiu village was listed as the key revolutionary cultural relic protection unit by Hong’an county government in 1956 with a permanent sign inlayed. In February 1998, it was rated as a national key revolutionary cultural relic protection unit by the State Council.
