Shaowu central soviet area memorial hall lies at the Little East Gate in the downtown of Shaowu（the original Shaowu library）, covering 3500 square meters, of which the central soviet exhibition area is 1200 square meters.

    During the second revolutionary civil war, Shaowu was the vital tie of central soviet area and north Fujian soviet area. After the foundation of Shaowu Party group in September, 1930, central red army captured Shaowu city for the first time and initiate soviet area in June, 1931.
    They supported Shaowu party organization to set up the soviet regime, founded the soviet government in Shaowu special area, revolutionary committee in Shaoguang county and the soviet government of Shaowu county one after another. To the west of Shaowu is the central revolutionary base of south Jiangxi and west Fujian, to the east is soviet area of north Fujian. To connect the central soviet area with the soviet area of north Fujian, a strategic corridor across the Shaowu should be opened up. Thus, from 1931 to 1932, the first red army has attacked and entered Shaowu for three times. In October, 1932, the 22th contingent subordinated to the first red army captured Shaowu so that the central red army met the red army of west Fujian at Shaowu, connecting the central soviet area and soviet area of south Fujian, and creating the significant condition for the foundation of central soviet area in Jiangxi and Fujian.

    On April 26th, 1933, Jiangxi and Fujian province was established in the 40^th regular meeting of the central peoples committee on Soviet republic of China. As a result, the soviet area of Shaowu, Guangze and north Fujian were included in the administration of Jiangxi and Fujian. To refresh the history, Shaowu municipal party committee and government decided that the Party History Office of the city and the Old Area Office take the accountability in the declaration of former central soviet area. In May, 2009, the provincial Party History Office and the Old Area Office jointly issued the approval of the Party History Research Center on May 4^th, 2009, in which  Shaowu was affirmed as the former central soviet area county. To reappear the glorious history of Shaowu central soviet area and disseminate the development of Shaowu, the municipal party committee and government of the city decided to build Shaowu central soviet area memorial hall as an educational base of Party history  by the Party History Office and the Old Area Office together.

    Shaowu central soviet area memorial hall consists of Shaowu central soviet area exhibition hall, Shaowu historical heroes exhibition hall, Shaowu people’s revolutionary exhibition hall, comprehensive analog battlefield, and Shaowu scientific development history exhibition hall. The construction and open of the memorial hall presents the significance in inheriting and carrying forward the revolutionary tradition, boosting the construction of western Taiwan straits economic zone.
