Langya Mountain, 45 kilometers away from the southwest Yi County, is famous for the undulating hills and its shape of wolf tooth. It is the very mountain where a heroic feat happened in the movie Five Heroes on Langya Mountain in which 5 Eight Route Army soldiers would rather jump off the cliff than surrender to the enemy as captives when they ran out of ammunition and food supplies. In honor of the five heroes, the Wumayi village behind the hill was renamed as Five Warriors village and a monument was established at the Chessboard main peak where the five men fought to the end by people’s government.

    When it comes to Langya Mountain, it always reminds people that five warriors fought for a bloody battle against Japanese army and jumped off the cliff 60 years ago. Langya Mountain not only is the heroic mountain but has the magnificent and breathtaking scenery as the provincial base for patriotic education and the provincial forest park. Langya Mountain is located at the foot of the eastern foothills of Taihang Mountain in Yi County, Hebei province, 45 kilometers away from the county town. It consists of 5 mounds and 36 peaks with the 1105-meter Lotus Petal peak. The west and north precipices are abrupt and the east and south ones are gently sloping, both stretching a mule path to the main peak. Stepping on the mountain, you will see groups of peaks standing in wolf-tooth shaping, misty clouds winding in the stream, magically and mystically. The scenery of Langya Mountain is enchanting. “Lang mountain contending for beauty” is one of the ten sceneries of ancient Yi County, called “Huang Mount in north”. Covered with green pines and verdant cypresses, flowing stream and waterfall, and wound with small paths, the mountain is famous for the “Immortal Bridge”, “Tigers Drinking Pool”, “Horse blocking Wall”, “Sunbin Hole”, and gigantic natural water-eroded caves and other natural landscape.

    In more than half a century, thousands of peace lovers have climbed on the Langya Mountain to admire the monument of the five warriors and mourn the martyrs, so it has become a base for patriotic education. In addition, the beautiful scenery and abundant resources of Langya Mountain make it both the base for patriotic education and the tourism landscape with kops, water-eroded caves and forests altogether.
