The Former Residence of Chenyun cum Qingpu Revolutionary History Memorial Hall was set up after the central approval to systematically display the life achievements of Chenyun. At the time of the 95th birthday of Chenyun, on June 6th, 2000, the hall was completed and opened with its name inscribed by Jiang Zemin. In June, 2001, it was declared as the national patriotism education demonstration base by the Central Propaganda Department.
The hall is located at Liantang town of Qingpu district in Shanghai where Chenyun was born. Covering 52 mu, the memorial hall consists of the main hall and Chenyun’s former residence. The main hall is 5500 Kilometers in which the exhibition place takes up 4500 Kilometers. There are 4 exhibition halls of Chenyun’s feats and 1 Qingpu revolutionary history hall, a lobby for spectators joining the Party and the Youth League and a theater for people playing videos on special subjects. The former residence of Chenyu is an old-kangnam-style brick house, situated to the north of the main hall, covering 95.88 Kilometers and still remaining the original appearance.
