The Long March: Crossing the Chishui River Four Times

Information Resource: people.com.cn (With Adaption)

Crossing the Chishui River Four Times was a decisive mobile warfare carried out by the Central Red Army during the Long March under siege by hundreds of thousands of Kuomintang troops after the Zunyi Meeting.

Mao Zedong took full advantage of the internal contradictions of the enemy and carried forward the superior qualities of the Red Army in mobile warfare. He directed the Central Red Army to gallop across the vast areas of Sichuan, Guizhou and Yunnan, weaving among the enemy’s heavily armed groups and to make distractions, knock the cold and strike the weak against the enemy. The Kuomintang army was placed in a state of futility and exhaustion. This campaign was a glorious example in the history of China’s revolutionary war in which the minority won the majority, changing passivity into initiative.
