On August 13, 1951, the Government Administration Council issued an announcement about changing the day to 3 September. On September 18, 1999, the State Council has revised the Measures for National Day and Remembrance Day Scheme, keeping September 3rd as the anniversary of the War of Resistance Against Japan. On February 27, 2014, the 7th Session of the Standing Committee of the 12th National People's Congress adopted a resolution in the form of national legislation to mark September 3rd as the Victory Day of the War of Resistance Against Japan.
