One research of The University of Melbourne indicated that, as the obliquity of the earth’s axis ranged near its higher level, the ice age lasing for the past million years came to its end.

     To unravel the mystery of why the ice age terminated, ascertaining the end time is where the key lies.

     During this period, the summer with longer daytime and higher temperature witnessed the melting of the vast ice sheets in the North Hemisphere, thus bringing the earth’s climate to the warm “Glacial Epoch” state.

     With the latest radiometric dating technology, an international team ascertained that the time of two previous terminations occured in 960,000 and 875,000 years ago.

     These data suggested that two initiation time indicated the same increase of the earth’s obliquity which contributed to the warmth in ice sheets areas of the North Hemisphere in summer, thus leading to the melting of the ice.
