Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Russia counterpart Vladimir Putin signed the Joint Statement on Strengthening Contemporary Global Strategic Stability, after their talks in Moscow, Russia, June 5, 2019.

The statement denoted that both countries should realize that, at present, the international security environment is facing severe challenges, and great determination is expected to deepen strategic mutual trust, to enhance strategic cooperation and to steadfastly maintain global and regional strategic stability.

        The two sides call for strengthening the nuclear non-proliferation system and vigorously advancing the three pillars of nuclear disarmament, non-proliferation and peaceful use of nuclear energy. Both sides also claim to jointly promote multilateralism and uphold and consolidate the hard-won international mechanism of nonproliferation and arms control.
