
The drought has been lasting in Yunnan and other provinces, emerging and developing in South China at present, according to the vice director of National Climate Center, Jia Xiaolong recently.
According to the statistics provided by the weather department on 31th March, drought over middle-degree has been up to 749,000 square kilometers in provinces such as Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian and so on. Severe drought and above has been up to 289,000 square kilometers, which excessive drought area has been covered 85,000 square kilometers.
Jia highlighted that Tomb Sweeping Day was a peak of worshipping ancestors, visiting grave and going on a hike. It is expected that there may be a high level of forest fire danger rate in areas of the northern part of North China, eastern Inner Mongolia, the middle of Northeast China, southern Sichuan, northwestern Yunnan and east part of South China. It should also be attached high priority to ensure fire safety in filed and strengthen management of fire sources.
